Changzhou has achieved a significant economic milestone, with its GDP for 2023 reported to have surpassed one trillion yuan for the first time. This accomplishment positions Changzhou among China's top economic powerhouses, alongside four other "trillion-yuan cities" in Jiangsu province—Suzhou, Nanjing, Wuxi, and Nantong.
The expansion of China's "trillion-yuan GDP club" has been notable, with 25 members added in the past 17 years since Shanghai's GDP crossed the one trillion mark in 2006.
